My visit to see an Izannah Walker doll and more

Hello , i finally made it to The Rosalie whyel Doll art museum in Bellevue, Washington. It was a sight to behold...TRULY a wonderful thing!!!!!! Of course, my nose started running, because everything i saw was so scrummy delicious , I was in sheer doll wonderland!!!!!!!! So very sad that it is closing, if you get a chance to go before the 1st of March DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I got there late, the traffic was horrible, it was raining but once i walked inside all that went away!!!!!!!!!!!! The lovely lady at the front desk let us stay a bit longer, we couldnt take pics but it was still delicious.  Now, you want to know what i thought of the Izannah Walker doll...well once we found her...I had to skip over all the lovely woodens and wax overs and china and maches,,, ohhhh the milliners and tuck comb dolls...BUT I found her!!!!!! Yes there was the sound of the heavens opening and of course the back light and trumpet music...well in my mind anyways, These dolls are much more demure and delicate than i have previously thought, so that said, i will be curious to see my next doll, even Angie's doll that i am working on now i think i will at least make some small changes. Before we left, my big hearted sweet daughter saw my eyes when i looked at "The Heart of the Tree" book written by Rosalie and staff....she snuck and purchased it for me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The cashier in the gift shop said they will be having wonderful doll sales....but some of the special dolls, Rosalie will keep....I'm sure an event not to miss!!
If you do ever get a chance to go, as they are closing next month, you should so do so!!!!!! I tell you...I could have spend days in there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Izzy is SOLD

Here is Izzy, she is a black Izannah Walker reproduction cloth and clay doll. She does have applied thumbs and a stockinette. I will be listing her on the Early Works Mercantile , there is a link to the right. She will have a rooster apron and a chicken feed bag. I hope you like her. Here she is shown in her Chemise, only, as I am waiting for her dress to air dry along with her feed bag for the chickens she must feed.

Izannah Walker Reproduction Cage Doll

Hello, and welcome to my bloggy! I made an apron for my doll last night, and by the looks of it , i will have her ready to list on Ebay, this weekend. She will have her school hornbook, and maybe a tiny clay baby doll. Do you think her apron works? Its not crooked, it just starched and needs to be ironed.

Izannah Walker Cage Doll dress colors

Hello, and welcome to my plain-n-simple doll makers blog. Here is my Izannah Walker reproduction doll and her dress. Do like the fabric i chose, my brother said he wasnt to taken with it until he saw the dress on her. Here she is on her cage and she stands 16 1/2 inches tall. She hasnt gotten her thumbs applied yet, so she has no way to tell me thumbs up or thumbs down.

My Next Izannah doll

Here is my next Izzy IW Izannah Walker doll, she is also going to be a cage doll because i tried to change her feet, and i am just not happy with them, her forehead is a bit taller than the last IW doll, which is a good thing eh? . She has a stockinette and will also have applied thumbs. I think she will turn out well. Maybe i will have time to paint her tonight, i hope so!

Itty Bitty Izzy Doll Challenge

Finally, Eh?.......

Here is my Itty Bitty Izzy doll for our Coffee With Tea Doll Challenge on Ebay, which starts today, June 8th. I named my Izannah Walker inspired doll Sue Ellen, she measures 6.5 inches tall. She is made of cloth, paper clay, stuffing, acrylic paint, and varnish. Sue Ellens dress is made of an embroidered fabric in pastel colors, bloomers and an apron. All her clothing are removeable with a slip of a knot. She has applied thumbs and a stockinette. She does have sausage curls and painted on boots. It sure took me long enough but i actually made deadline for our challenge.

Paint Job

Hello everyone, here's Itty Bitty Izzy doll with her face on. I can see a few changes are needed, what do you think? I'd love to hear your honest opinion. Izannah Walker dolls in this scale are testing my nerves, not to mention that my vision sucks, and so do my paint brushes. I'm going to think possitive... atleast she looks like a frozen Charlie...hehe!!!!! Many Frozen Charlie Hugs to ya!!

~ Challenge

Hello, I hope everyone had a lovely weekend, and a peaceful Easter.
Here is a progress picture of my attempt at our Coffee With Tea (CWT) Itty Bitty Izzy Doll challege. I thought forsure i wasnt going to be able to keep the look of an Izannah Walker doll in such a small scale, but i kept some of the features, and I am so proud of my self, I DID NOT use a pattern. She is 6 inches tall, and here she is, just after putting on her stockinette. Sorry the picture is so dark, i had to darken it up, as to show her features. Hopefully you can see what i am talking about. Let me know what you think. I'd love to hear from you!!!

Our Little Red Riding Hood Doll Challenge is coming on Sunday....

Doll Challenge, Hmmm, Nope its not a big brawl of dolls, Michele!!!Hehe We, the Coffee With Tea Sisters are all making a doll from our imagination, and childhood memories. Everyone knows about Little Red Ridinghood and her jaunt through the woods to grandmothers house, and how the big bad wolf began blowing down the little stick built house...oh wait...thats the 3 Little piggys... the wicked wolf did something like put Grandma, who wasnt feeling well anyway, in the closet, I imagine, and borrowed Grams glasses and pajamas, and hid in her comfy bed, while waiting for Little Red to show up...and the rest is all up to you to imagine, but this wonderful Doll Challenge will begin on February 24, this Sunday at 7:00 P.M . on Ebay. As you well know, mine is an Izannah Walker inspired Little Red Ridinghood Doll, named Nellie, but the other girls have out done themselves,You will be so delitefully suprised and in aw of these creations. This is an event you shouldnt miss, especially if you love and collect Dolls!!!!!!!!

Little Red Ridinghood Nellie Morgan, sister of Isaac

Her is my finished Izannah Walker inspired Little Red Ridinghood doll named Nellie. I changed her hairline, straightened her pocket and finished her riding cape, and added a simple black closure to it.
Here, you will see her little tin 'basket', that she is taking to grandmothers house. Inside are her church dolls and a special gift for grandma, a tiny handsewn pin cushion.

I hope you fall in Love with her, as I have. She will be absolutely finished and ready for Ebay and our Coffee With Tea Doll challenge on Sunday, February 24, at 7:00.

Nellie's Apron

Hello dollmakers and doll lovers, here is a very simple primitive apron made of old muslin, i put a braid trim on her pockets, I wanted to keep her really simple and lovely. I also noticed that one pocket is a bit lower than the other, after seeing the picure, but decided to leave it that way for a more prim look. What do you think? Since Nellie is on her way to Grandmothers house, she will also be carrying a few wonderful items in her tin 'basket', which are still in the process of being completed. I know i am the slowest dollmaker in history, so please bare with me. For the life of me, i can not find those antique linen napkins...maybe i already used them? I guess i will have to make a trip to the Antique World Mall, so i can finish her chemise, and unders...what a fantastic idea,YIPPY!!!!!! I LOVE that place!

Nellie an Izannah walker Red Riding Hood Cloth Doll

Hello, this is the begining of Nellies cloak, I have never made one before. Not sure on the closure i will use either, but it sure is fun creating and wish some of you 'crafty' sisters where here with me! I used an old fabric, somewhat like bark cloth, very textured and hand dyed it red, and on the inside I used a wool fabric and dyed it also. The mixture is a bit different dont you think? Nellie is looking downward as to show the top of her cloak hood, is it too pointy? Any constructive critisism is much appreciated. Thank You girls for such lovely compliments on Nellie!!!!! Hope everyone is well and happy as fat puppies on a warm bed!

Dolls...

Creating Dolls

When creating dolls, they seem to take on their own personality, and even though this little Izannah Walker doll doesnt have arms yet, she already has a strong personality. I really like the way she is turning out.This little girl is an order for a gal in Pennsylvania, but for now I have put her to the side to make another Izannah doll, a 27 inch one, and to create the same feature on a 27in. doll compared to a 14 inch doll... this has been quit a challenge for me!! The head on the 27 in. doll is the size of a 2 year old toddler...but still looks Izzy-ish, so far, let me know what ya think?...Please remember........... she is in her rough state, and is still being sculpted.
